Way back in the Club’s history (circa 1993) we had a great family competing for us. They were called Skinsley. Father Mike was a schoolmaster and he worked hard to bring athletes from his school into the Club and worked closely with the Avon Schools athletics organisation. His Children Helen and Peter were in their own right notable athletes with Helen being a 30m Javelin thrower and prominent multi-event athlete and Peter an outstanding Long Jumper.
Well Peter has moved on in the World and we are pleased to note that in the New Year Honours list announced last week Lieutenant Colonel Peter Michael Skinsley was awarded the OBE for Military Services. Congratulations Peter!
