Bristol & West AC is the leading all-round athletics club in the Southwest of England, providing coaching and competition for the widest range of events, all age groups and all abilities, throughout the year.

From running for fun to international excellence, from road running and cross country to track and field - indoors and out -  we are an open and friendly club whose aim is to help you to achieve your potential and enjoy our great sport.

JUNIOR ACADEMY AND YOUNG ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT

(More information about juniors can be found here)

This is primarily for 8-15 yr olds and includes all-round development of athletics skills in the various disciplines. There is provision for young athletes from the age of 5 upwards at Filton Academy and for young athletes in school years 4, 5 & 6 at Whitehall Junior Academy.

Lead coaches: Andrea Lock (Filton Junior Academy); Dean Garrett (Whitehall Junior Academy); Hilary Nash  (Whitehall); Dave Taylor (girls 11-18), Ali Hurford (boys 10-14) & Dave Bedwell (boys 15-18).

Monday

  • Junior Athletics Academy 5.30 pm at Filton WISE Campus/Bristol Academy of Sport. Lead Coach - Andrea Lock. For further details see the flyer at Downloads - Club Administration - Filton Junior Academy.
  • Girls' Endurance Group 6.15pm at the top of Parry's Lane, Stoke Bishop. Lead Coach - Dave Taylor.

SENIOR ATHLETE AND TALENTED TEENAGER DEVELOPMENT

Sprints (100/200/400m/relays/hurdles)

Middle distance (800 and 1,500 metres)

Lead Coach for 800 metres: Cy Knibb (Cy concentrates on 800 metres but also coaches 400 metre and 400 metre hurdlers)

Lead Coach for 1,500 metres: Keith Brackstone (18+ male and female). Keith's sessions move location so please check on the monthly schedule on the web-site.

Age group coaches for all middle distances: Dave Bedwell (15-18 boys) , Dave Taylor (11-18 girls) and Ali Hurford (10-14 boys).

Long distance (10,000 metres/10k/half/marathon)

  • 6:30pm Novice & improvers road running with Nick Rose - Up and Running, North View, Westbury Park, Bristol.

Thursday

  • 7pm Various Locations - see club web-site for details on a weekly basis.
  • 7 pm Whitehall - Recreational Runners Group led by Emma Bowers.
