Bristol and West AC could not exist without out wonderful volunteers. There are a number of ways that you can get involved and support the running of the club.

Take a look at the ideas below, and get in touch via volunteer@bristolandwestac.org to find out more.

Train as an official

Athletics competitions cannot take place without timekeepers, judges, marshalls and other technical officials. We’re always looking for new volunteers to bolster our officials team, so that we can continue to contribute to the running of events across Bristol and the South West.

For parents, this is an awesome way of supporting your youngsters at events whilst giving something back to the athletics community at the same time. We are so thankful to all those who give their time to enable us to organise competitions.

Contact us for details of how to become a qualified volunteer official, including training courses: no previous experience necessary!

Help us welcome people on training nights at Whitehall

Do you have time on a weekday evening to be a friendly face on the entry desk at Whitehall track, perhaps whilst a family member is training?

Join the club management committee

Are you keen to get more involved in the running of the club, or do you have specific skills or advice that you’d like to offer to the committee?

Organise social events

We always need social secretaries! All members are encouraged to organise social runs, meals, drinks and other events. If you’ve got ideas and energy around socials then get in touch!

Take photos

Photos show off what we can do! We’re looking for budding amateur photographers to take photos at training and competitions so that we can share them on our website and with the media.

Support with social media

Are you a Facebook fiend or Twitter pro? Fancy taking control of some of the club’s social media? Give us a shout!

Write race reports and newsletters

We produce regular reports and newsletters to let our members know what’s going on, and to celebrate our success. Are you a budding journalist with a bit of time to support the writing and distribution of this content?
