Nicholas Harris known as Nick has been coaching for 12 years at Bristol and West AC, he’s a level 2 sprints coach with a UKA Level 3 strength and conditioning qualification working with both young and older athletes from 6 to 55. Nick’s passion is to coach athletes to be all they can be working on motivation as well as the physical aspects of their training. Athletics is as much about mentality as physicality and the ability to work with both has taken years of training.
In 2018 Nick was selected to coach on the British Athletics Futures Athletics Academy Programme. He is a British Athletics Futures Coach to Simran Kaur (100m T47) and a British Athletics Parallel Success Coach.
His experience has given him the ability to spot how athletes run, correcting and making improvements to techniques. Bio-mechanics is important and takes time to master for both athlete and coach.
Nick has supported 3 of our level 2 sprint coaches within the club whilst they gained their qualifications. Nick himself is supported and mentored out of Bath University the Regional Development Centre for Sport.
He coaches in a number of schools from primary to secondary throughout Bristol working with teachers to improve participation within the sport at both school and club levels.
Nick’s personal goals are to develop performance athletes for the English Schools Championships and beyond working with athletes who believe they can and want to achieve their own goals.
