Under 13 lads in fine fettle on the track, road & trails.

Ali Hurford reports…

This competitive group of lads are certainly enjoying a mixture of summer races. Recently Zac Cox & Alex Auton Green competed over 800m in their first youth development league and clearly there is more in the tank. A few days later many of the lads were back in action again at the county 1500m champs at Bath. Considering this is their first year in the age group I was delighted with the results considering they are still learning the ropes.

Next up on July 1st was the infamous Westbury Wipe Out, a firm favorite of the group. This race entails approx. 3k of trails around Blaise taking in hills, streams and plenty of mud. It is superbly organized by Neil Miller from Westbury Harriers. Long may it continue.

Aware that medals and free biscuits were up for grabs the following evening so a small contingent of boys found the energy to take part in the Sri Chimnoy 1 mile race in Eastville park. This was a useful rehearsal for the ice cream relays to be held later in the month.

Certainly this group is keeping me on my toes. Wonderful to be part of such youthful enthusiasm.
