Chelmsford’s combined BAL & UKWAL: Connell MacQuisten reports
This might be a new record for the longest time post competition for a write up of the results, thank you for your patience and I’m sure many of you might have forgotten this outing two weeks ago.
A huge congratulations to the women and their success tying first with Enfield & Haringey and scoring a massive 189 points for the day.
We were strong across the board with impressive performances in both the track and field events.
Multiple winners in their divisions, Kate Maltby, in both the 1500mA and the 3000mA. Andrea Jesudason & Tia Jackson in the Long Jump A & B respectively. Samatha Barrett in the Triple Jump B and the highest scoring performer of the day being Christina Jones with a staggering massive 926 points in the Hammer securing 3rd with 56.72m.
Thank you to the women who came across from the grass to compete on the track this weekend, we couldn’t have secured this win without you. On a final note to Andrea we wish you a speedy recovery with your hamstring and hope to see you soon.
Over to the men, a not so great finish coming 5th overall, for many it was season openers so we’re hopeful for the next match in the coming weeks.
That being said, well done to the captain of the team, Alex Daley winning the 400m hurdles and to A. Michael Wilsmore and Jack Bancroft in the 3000m A & B respectively winning both of their races and Adam Brooks in the High Jump A. clearing 2.05m. Some very good results and the wind was all over the place that day with the 200m being recorded with headwinds up to -3.8.
We remain confident for the rest of the season and hope the winds are in our favour to produce some faster performances next month.
Many thanks Roger Brocklesby, Keith Brackstone, Martin Davies and Chris Elson for organising and managing the teams for this match.
