Each month we’ll profile a different committee member, give an update on what the committee’s been working on, and look forward to future projects. This month, we focus on two people who sit outside of the main committee, but who are particularly important!
Meet… Emma Withers and Paul Jefferson, club welfare officers
Both Emma and Paul are members of the club, regulars at Ashton Court park run, have 3 children
each and work in the social care sector. Many of you will know Emma as the U15/U17 boys’ Team Manager. Many of your will know Paul because he is rather fast at Ashton Court.
Their aim is to ensure that Whitehall is a ‘safe environment’ for children to enjoy athletics. We have a legal duty to ensure that we look after and treat properly the children in our club and that also means that we are responsible for reporting any concerns about a child’s welfare if we have due cause to. A safe environment is everyone’s responsibility but policy, procedures, processes, awareness and training are also required so that we can honesty say we have got it right.
You can get in touch with Emma and Paul on email@example.com
What else have we been working on?
Recent committee projects include:
- The club AGM – a particular shout out to Owain Jones for his organisation here.
- Membership renewals – former membership secretary Alice Doggrell did an awesome job of sorting our membership registrations. Watch this space for info on our new membership secretary…and thanks to Alice for all her hard work over the last few years!
- Planning club events – April saw us secure a date for the Fast 5000s and the summer club fun day, and notably also saw the successful return of the club’s 5k race series. Well done to Steve Grant for all his hard work there!
What’s coming up?
We’re looking forward to welcoming our new committee members and ironing out the new committee roles for this year. We’ll then crack on with a new and improved ‘club development plan’, and we’ll also be conducting a member survey.
Watch this space for news of all of that soon!
