The Easter holidays for the U13 lads kicked off with the usual Saturday training session consisting of a paulauf followed by some fast & furious relays. However the highlight of the morning was our now traditional Easter egg hunt which always attracts large numbers to turn out. Once all the fun was over it was down to the serious business of the annual presentation of the Ali Prize. This always goes to a lad for the following reasons – for example someone who has been with the group for several years, not the fastest but has contributed to the team and above all made Ali laugh. So this year Alex Robertson was duly honoured for his solid commitment to racing at all levels and never letting me down.
Ali then had to quickly change hats & attend the wedding of a dad whose son I coached 10 years ago, quite an honour.
The following morning a large number of us turned up for the Windmill Hill 2k Parkrun which was to be followed by the groups informal xc presentation. As the photos showed the lads looked very impressive on the start line & full marks go to Eoin O’Halloran who equalled the record of 6mins 55sec despite running the long way into the finish.
Once the racing was over the fun began consisting of prizes, cakes & plenty of football.
As usual we have lots planned during the holidays plus a sand dune session in Wales next month.
Onwards and upwards as usual.
