This morning 5 Bristol and West athletes toed the start line of the Gloucester 10k, which incorporated the SW intercounties championships. It was a cool, crisp, sunny morning and the course was fast with some small, gentle hills.
The first man home was Peter Le Grice, clocking a rapid 29.43 to win the race and smash over two minutes off his PB. Owain Jones ran a seasons best of 31:19 for 6th place. Next home and second lady overall was Kate Maltby with a strong performance clocking 35:55. Not far behind Annabel Granger ran 37:54 to for second place in the W40 category. Darren Stringer narrowly missed a PB running 41:44 to finish in 117th place out of 791 finishers.
Sadly there was no Avon team entered in the SW champs, which on the mens side was convincingly won by a Devon team featuring two former B&W members. Anyone looking for a fast local 10k should consider Gloucester next year!
