Three athletes from the club made the trip to the Watford Regional British Milers Club Meeting on Wednesday 13th June 2018 and all three came away with personal bests.
Charlotte TAYLOR-GREEN has been looking to rekindle her love of the sport again in the last few weeks and what better way than running a 4.16.88 PB in the 1,500 metres and taking the win as well. Charlotte finished just four tenths in front of Jade Williams who is also coached by James Thie in a very competitive race. Charlotte’s time ranks her twentieth in the UK this year and must surely give her the confidence to have a go at this distance in the UK Championships as she takes a year away from serious steeplechasing.
In the Men’s ‘A’ 800 metres Mike WILSMORE finished fifth in 1,49.80. His PB sees him ranked thirty-fifth in the UK but just one second outside the top twenty and that little extra speed over the shorter distance will surely bode well for his up-coming 1,500 metre races later in the season.
Club British Athletic League stalwart Caspar ELIOT finished eighth in the 800 metres ‘B’ race in 1.53.48 for a PB (by 7/100 of a second) as he continues to mix racing well over 400 and 800 metres.
