On a sunny bank holiday Sunday a handful of Bristol & West athletes competed in the Two Tunnels race series held near Bath. This event had a range of distances and terrains on offer, all of which incorporate some of the Two Tunnels Greenway path. The tunnels (408 metres and 1,672 metres long) provided well needed shade from the hot weather.
In the ‘Hilly Half’ CAITLIN LLOYD came home as first female in a time of 1.48.01. AGNIESZKA KAMINSKA was also representing the club in this event and finished sixth F40-49.
MOLLY CHILTON took the place of first female in the ‘Hilly 10k’ in a time of 50.43, over 5 minutes clear of the second place woman and impressively placing fifth out of the whole field. ANDREA GOUDE and NICK WHITE also competed in this event and finished first and seventh respectively in their age categories.
In the ‘Return Half’ (a flat half marathon) NICOLA OLDROYD and LISA NEWING finished as fourth and fifth female in times of 1.35.53 and 1.39.41 respectively.
DAVID JOHNSON was the clubs sole representative in the ‘Return 10k’ (a flat 10k) and placed fourth in the M40-49 category in a time of 40.38.
The next races in the series are on the 8th July and 19th August and a link to the website is here: http://www.relishrunningraces.com/bath-two-tunnels-railway-races-event-information.php
