We are still keen to involve more people in the Cotswold Way Relay this year and are getting close to the point where will allocate stages so the recce runs can start.
The Cotswold Way Relay (103 miles over 10 legs) is held on Saturday 30th June 2018 and we have been even more ambitious than last year and entered five teams. There will be a Ladies, Men’s and then either Mixed (minimum of 3 ladies/team) or Vets (40 and over of any gender) teams with Tracy Allan, John Rooney, Tom Watkins, Steve Grant and Maggie Salter taking on the respective Team Manager roles.
The race starts at Chipping Campden in the early morning, through to the raucous arrival at Bath Abbey in the early evening, using the waymarked route of the Cotswold Way as our route. The relay is self-navigated and over 90% off-road, taking in many hills, woodlands, fields and tracks. Each stage starts around the time the first runner from the previous stage is expected to finish.
Details are provided by the Team Bath organisers at http://www.cotswoldwayrelay.co.uk.
The Ladies and Men’s teams will focus on competitiveness with the other teams aiming to get as broad a group of runners involved as we can. With 50 slots to fill we hope that there will be room for everyone who is fit and wants to run. The club is paying the entry for all five teams this year.
To register your interest if you haven’t already, can all ladies contact Tracy Allan (firstname.lastname@example.org) and all men John Rooney (email@example.com) by e-mail or Facebook by the 7th May 2018 stating any stage preferences and t-shirt sizes (XS, S, M, L and XL) although no promises on either.
Tracy and John will let Tom, Steve and Maggie know who is available and we will be coordinating team selection aiming to satisfy as many stage preferences as we can.
For anyone who has not run in this event before, it is very special and often described as ‘my favourite run of the year’.
