Sunday 25th February 2018 saw two club athletes in action in the Muller Grand Prix Meeting at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow both were flying the flag in their club vests and both did themselves proud running personal bests. Sophie KAMLISH finished second in the T43/T44 60 metres, which is outside her classification as a T64 athlete. She finished second in the race behind German sprinter Irmgard Bensusan who clocked 8.24; Sophie’s time of 8.47 was a PB. As usual Sophie was all smiles in her post-race interview which gave the club plenty of air time. Well done Sophie on both counts.
Mike WILSMORE has been in great form and made full use of a run-out against top class competition. Often these races develop into two groups with the internationals battling it out at the front with the British contingent in their own personal battle for fast times. Sunday’s 1,500 metres was no exception and Mike ran a well-judged race to record a 3:42.26 PB as he finished eighth. Mike finished in front of Garrett Heath of the USA, who has the distinction of beating Mo Farah at the Edinburgh Cross-Country, and less than half a second behind Tom Marshall of Cardiff who was the first British athlete in sixth place.
