Home Indoor Track and Field Round-Up – Sunday 11th February 2018

Following Lucy BRYAN’s brilliant Club Record of 4.47 in the USA we have news of some great vaulting by young Lottie STEIN in London.  Lottie just moving up to the Under-15 age group started in her Vault London competition in Carshalton with a previous PB of 2 metres 02 centimetres.  She opened with a modest 1 metre 80 centimetres and had one failure at 2 metres and 01 centimetre before sailing through new PBs of 2 metres 11 centimetres and 2 metres 21 centimetres.  She then faced the formidable height of 2 metres 31 centimetres (30 centimetres above her previous best).  On the third attempt she cleared and then went on to strive for 2 metres 41 centimetres.  Lottie did not make it this time but it is predicted that she won’t loiter at this level for long.  Her ultimate target must be Lucy BRYAN’s Club Under-15 Record of 2 metres 66 centimetres although I note that she still has to surpass the excellent 2 metres 33 centimetres  Chloe MARRETT set last year.  We look to the future for you Lottie.

There was not a lot of Bristol & West activity in Birmingham for the re-arranged Midland Championships.  Will KENNEDY (Under-23) sprinted 60 metres but found the HIPAC track a little less friendly than Cardiff.  Nevertheless his 7.06 second clocking earned him fifth place in his final after qualifying in 7.14 seconds.  T44 Disability Athlete Sophie KAMLISH (Under-23) equally performed below her recent Cardiff performances clocking 8.65 for her 60 metres.  Higher Competition Athlete Yvette WESTWOOD performed well to take the Bronze Medal in the Senior 60 metres but also will not be happy with her 7.79 second time in her final.
