Cardiff Indoor Festival of Vaulting – Sunday 21st January 2018

23 Jan

There was a great festival of Pole Vaulting at Cardiff this past weekend with 108 vaulters from far and wide competing in ‘Vault Cardiff’.  A special Competition just for themselves and of course it featured B&W Athletes.  In fact each of our three Ladies achieved Indoor Personal Bests – what more could you ask for.

Leading the way was senior vaulter Silvia AMABILINO with a massive 3.76 metre clearance to win her group.  Silvia was delighted with her vault which consolidates her position as second best female B&W vaulter all time to our 2018 Commonwealth Games representative Lucy BRYAN.  Madeline HARTNOLL Under-20 who no heighted last week bounced back with a superb 2.37 metres.  After a period of rest after injury she will be well pleased with that.  Then young Lottie STEIN who is just learning her trade came home with another PB of 2.02 metres.  Well done B&W ladies.

Also in the competition and associated with our Club were ladies Ester LEONG 3.52 metres and Caroline WALDER 3.22 metres, both North Somerset and former member Cameron WALKER-SHEPPARD 5.02 metres (RAF), Ollie THORNER 4.22 metres (Wells) and M60 Martin DAVIES 2.72 metres who is of course a B&W Life Member.  It is worth mentioning that most of these athletes above owe their early development to Martin who started them off on this road to success.
