As the domestic Indoor season peters out for another year we are able to report on the interesting annual combined Indoor & Outdoor event held at the Midland HPC at Alexander Stadium.
Jess LEWIS (Under-15) really took a step forward improving her PB massively with a Javelin Throw (Outdoor) of 28.05 metres. This not only surpasses her last year’s marks by over 5 metres but Jess did this after moving up an age group so throwing with a heavier implement! This throw moves Jess right up into the top 10 All Time throws for the Club and results from some very hard work over the winter now under the guidance of Coach Paul FILER.
Sam BARRETT has been striving to break the 11 metre barrier for the Triple Jump (Indoor) and this week-end achieved her aim. Her leap was measured at 11.07 metres improving her Under-20 Club Record and proving that it was well worthwhile making that trip to Birmingham.
Sprinter Ben TULLOCH clocked 11.82 when finishing seventh in the Under-20 100 metres and 7.43 when finishing sixth in the Under-20 60 metres.
Last week we published a late report that Lucy BRYAN had once again improved her Indoor Club Record for the Pole Vault to match her Outdoor PB at 4.40 metres. Well also unreported was another Club Pole Vault Record. At Vault Cardiff young Chloe MARRETT upped her own Under-13 record by 27 centimetres to 2.33 metres. Congratulations as well to her Coach Martin DAVIES who has worked hard with Chloe and he returned to competition to post a seasons best Vault of 2.83 metres. Senior Silvia AMABILINO fell well below her recent PB of 3.60 metres and will be disappointed with her vault of 3.18 metres and Madeline HARTNOLL who has been rebuilding her technique cleared 2.13 metres on her come-back trail.
The final throw for the Indoor season will be the World Masters Championships beginning now in South Korea. If any B&W athletes do venture to that far off part of the World then we will report it, if not we close the Season and look forward to many successes in the coming Summer on our Tracks.
