The course designer made the most of the fast going, sand dunes, long finishing straight plus it was exceptionally spectator friendly. So the long journey was well worth the effect.
It was a real privilege to have two full Under-11 teams competing and all eight lads should look forward to the summer training and racing.
The A team consisted of Ishmael Bradley (14) Josh Lewis (18) Ronnie Wilmott (41) and Luca Allison (44). Both Josh and Ronnie will still be in this age group next year when they will be a force to contend with.
Harry Constable (52) led in the B team followed by Zachary Roe (68), Rio Dutton (79) and Fred Cummins (82 ) Fred showed remarkable team spirit finishing despite feeling unwell and with out his lucky spikes.
The Under-13 team was a little depleted due to illness and other sporting commitments but due to our strength we held on to our team silver position.
The testing course was to Joe Mead’s (9 ) liking and chasing hard Aidan Oscroft (14) was not far behind. Jay Akbar (21) started off with good intent having to work hard to hold off Joseph Hull (26) who was well aware of the importance of his result as final counter for the A team.Jacob Roe (31) has improved remarkably this season and was having another gusty run while smiley Amos Kingston ( 33) was clearly enjoying his day at the seaside.
We have had an exceptionally successful road and cross-country season. This is due to a lot of good will from the parents plus the commitment of the athletes and their team ethos which we have in bucket loads
The 2017 winter season will kick off on Saturday 23th September with the Midland road relays, Sutton Park, Birmingham. This is always a great event to be part of.
