Bristol University 3 X 3K Relays – Saturday 25th February 2017
Teams from Bath, UWE, Exeter and Bristol University competed along with 3 Bristol & West AC Men’s teams. Several ladies from the club competed in the Women’s race, with Amelia Atkinson (12.18) leading off for the winning Bristol University team. Caitlin Lloyd (13.03) led off the University ‘C’ team that finished fourth, while the Glitter Girls in fifth starred Emma Jolliffe (13.01) and Alexa Parker (11.51) and Molly Chilton (12.56) anchored the sixth team. However, one of the fastest ladies (seventh fastest) on the day was Camilla Briggs, returning after a lengthy lay off, in a mixed team with 12.30.
The Men’s race was won by the Bristol & West AC ‘A’ team with Josh Moody producing the fastest time of the day of 9.35 on the first leg, followed by Luke Evans who took somewhat of a detour, in 10.20 and Rob Stewart on the anchor leg with 10.09. For the ‘B’ team, Harry Allen, making his debut for the club, had the second fastest time of the day with 9.47, with Dave Johnson (11.07) and Peter Baines (10.37) bringing the team home in sixth place. The vets team of Jerry Hogan (11.36), John Rooney (11.16) and Greg Chance (11.06) finished twelfth.
Avon Valley 12K – Sunday 26th February 2017
Greg Chance had a busy weekend coming second in this event in 55.17, with Nathan Hemingbrough in eighth place (57.55) and Charlotte Knowles third lady in 74.39. In the accompanying 6K race Tim White (29.04) and Paul Croft (30.59) took the first two places.
Bourton on the Water 10K – Sunday 26th February 2017
Five club members competed in this race with Pete Clarke and Mark Taylor finishing together in fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh places in 39.00, and Bruce Sellers and Alan Wilcox eighty-ninth and ninetieth in 40.27 and 40.29. Michelle Edgell was our sole lady representative in the 523 strong field in 432nd place in 57.53.
