A brave decision by Event Organiser Cherry Kraus and Course Designer Keith Brackstone paid off handsomely as the forecast overnight heavy rain on Saturday night appeared but the morning stayed completely dry at Ashton Park School on Sunday 20th November 2016. With Carol and Mike Strange, Bev Barrett, Hilary Nash and Roger Brocklesby providing the time-keepers and finish officials and Pete Davenport producing the results the event passed off efficiently and successfully with the 325 competing athletes seeming to love the slightly wet conditions underfoot. By the end the area around the finishing line was a big mud puddle but apart from the odd slip no-one came to grief and offered a taste of cross-country around the Ashton Park School Fields.
Team winners in the various age groups were:
Year 5 Boys – North Somerset 127 points
Year 5 Girls – Bristol North 166 points
Year 6 Boys – South Gloucestershire 199 points
Year 6 Girls – Bristol North 116 points
It was good to see the winning team won by three different areas across the four races and overall the positions were as follows:
- North Somerset – 694 points
- North Bristol – 764 points
- Bath & North-East Somerset – 1,146 points
- South Gloucestershire – 1,254 points
- South Bristol – 1,868 points
Full results can be found below (North Bristol Year 5 Boys did not declare schools!).
