The End Of A Successful Summer Season

29 Aug

With one last fixture of the 2016 Track and Field season left it is a good time to thank all athletes, team managers, coaches, parents and officials for a job well done.   The club competes in 6 leagues across all age groups and this, together with Open meetings, takes a lot of commitment and organisation from a relatively small group of volunteers.   Without these people events would not be possible so If you have enjoyed watching your child compete, or have taken part yourself, how about offering a little time to ensure the Club is able to promote fixtures in the future.

A Field Officials Course is planned for 15 October 2016 at Cheltenham Track.   Offering assistance with one of the Field events at a match need take as little as 30 minutes of your time.   There is no commitment and the cost of the course will be refunded to you.   Please access the details on-line at England Athletics or contact me on if you need any advice.   I am hoping to arrange courses for budding timekeepers, track judges and starter/marksmen in the area during the Autumn/Spring so do let me know if you are interested in seeing what is involved in any of these disciplines.   It can be rewarding and we do try and make the experience as enjoyable as possible.

For those wishing to get involved with Endurance events, either cross country or road running, or for those Officials already registered, there is a Risk Awareness course being held in Downend on 30 October 2016.   It is now obligatory to attend this course if you wish to maintain your Endurance qualification and I urge anyone who has not completed this course to sign up for it – again on-line with England Athletics.

I do hope we can encourage some of you to get more out of the athletic experience by becoming a volunteer.
