Dan Studley won the Ron Delany 1,500 metres on Saturday 14th June 2014 a the Irishtown Stadium in Dublin. Dan was invited to run in the race by the Irish Milers’ Club following his win earlier in the month at the British Milers’ Club race in Manchester. The Ron Delany race is run each year to remember how the Irish runner Ron Delany won the 1,500 metre Gold at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.
To win the race, Dan had to overcome the challenge of No. 1 Under-20 Scottish runner Shaun Fletcher Wyllie (who has clocked 3 minutes 41 seconds for 1,500 metres this year). Dan’s winning time was 3 minutes 44 seconds, but not quite as quick as Ron Delany’s Olympic time of 3 minutes 41seconds.
