Chris Stone completed a great weekend at the Midland under-20 Championships by taking his heat in the 200 metres in 21.14before winning the final in 20.92. Both runs were both PBs and Championship Best Performances and lift Chris to second place in the UK under-20 rankings. Already likely to be selected for the relay team for the World Under-20 Championships in Eugene Oregon at the end of July Chris is now well placed for an individual event place but knows that he must perform well at the Under-20 Championships at Bedford on Saturday and Sunday 21st and 22nd June 2014 to make sure of his place. The club has already positioned itself ready to support Chris’ Coach – Alastair Abrams – should Chris be successful. Other club athletes were in action at the Midland Championships. Freddie Owsley won the 400 metres for Under-20s only to be disqualified after the event as he hadn’t withdrawn from the 100 metres final. Freddie’s time of 49.01 has been passed to Avon Schools and we sincerely hope it will be allowed to stand for England School selection purposes.
Also in action was Debo Ademuyewo who qualified for the final of the Senior Men’s 200 metres but withdrew as a precaution when his hamstring tightened.
Other results will be added as soon as they have been posted on line.
