This coming Sunday (18th May 2014) sees a trio of club athletes compete in the Loughborough International in the traditional multi-team early season fixture. The event usually sees an England senior team take on GB & NI Juniors, a British Universities Select side, a Welsh Team and Loughborough Students. Steve Mitchell has had a couple of outings over longer distances in recent times but the BUCS 2014 Indoor 3,000 metre and Outdoor 5,000 metre champion returns to the 1,500 metres for the England Senior Team in the event where he made his name. Chris Stone is very much a 200 metre man and runs his specialist distance for GB & NI Juniors. One person you could certainly not accuse of being a specialist is Charlotte Green, however, this Jill of All Trades has the potential to make a real mark in the women’s steeplechase and her climb to sixth in the UK 2,000 metre steeplechase rankings for 2014 is rewarded with a guest slot in the women’s 3,000 metres steeplechase. We look forward to all their results with interest and great to see the club being represented in such company. Also congratulations to their respective coaches James Thie, Alastair Abrams and Dave Taylor for the work that has gone into these athlete’s recent performances.
