So far 21 people have signed up for the Spring 5 km Handicap to be held on Monday 7th April 2014 up a newly marked route out and back along the Bristol/Bath cycle track (same route as for previous handicaps the markings have just been refreshed). The aim will be to start issuing numbers from 6.45 p.m. in the tea room at Whitehall Changing Rooms. There will be a short warm up on the track and the aim will be to get the first runner started at 7.15 p.m. so the light will still be reasonable for the finish at around 7.45 p.m. As it is anticipated that there will be at least 15 minutes between the scratch runner and the fastest runner participants are advised to warm up individually.
If you want to take part please let Keith Brackstone know by 5 p.m. on Sunday 6th April 2014 by email to email@example.com. Please note Keith is the official handicapper – so while you might suggest what you think your handicap should be the handicapper will allocate handicaps (and his word is final).
Help to organise the event is needed in the form of 2 volunteers to record finishing numbers and 2 volunteers to record times. A fifth volunteer (preferably with a bike) will be needed to act as a marshal at the turning point. If you are able to help please let Keith know (or Roger Brocklesby at Saturday’s Ashton Court parkrun.
We look forward to a good turnout on Monday and there will be a few small prizes.
Chris Elson will coordinate training for those who wish to run as part of Whitehall Runners on Monday but don’t feel they are up to running 5k.
