Phil Wylie – British Elite Duathlon Champion

Bristol and West runner Phil Wylie has won the British Elite Duathlon title. His victory in a thrilling race at the Rockingham motor racing circuit has virtually assured him of a place in the Great Britain team for next month’s World Championship. The 35 year old international dominated the race from the start and was never headed over the run-bike-run event winning by nine seconds in 53:49. “After the fast start I was surprised no one came with me on the opening 5k run and I was able to dictate the pace,” said a jubilant Phil. “Although it was never comfortable on the bike section, I was able to get a clear lead on the final 5k run and was never really under pressure.”
