Pomphrey Sports 5k – Tuesday 25th March 2014 – Report and Results

The club dominated last night’s race with 33 members running out of the 88 who finished. Will Christofi ran out a convincing winner in 16:08, with Jarlath McKenna (16:36) just pipping evergreen M50 Phil Parry at the finish as Phil clocked 16:38. Both Jack Millar and Miles Chandler posted 5K PBs by 40 and 22 seconds respectively. There was another stream of the distinctive club vests from twelfth to eighteenth position with Andy Malloy being first M40 in thirteenth place. Pete Mountain, Gary Jennings and Jon Goodland were the first 3 M55s home, boding well for the Masters Relay this summer. Club member and University of Bristol cross-country captain Ellen Harrison was first lady in 19:03, almost 50 seconds faster than last month and heading back towards PB territory which is good to see. Tess Loftus was third senior lady in 20:07. Alan Wilcox was pleased with his squad. What a cracking evening! Alan and his lovely wife ran their first race for Bristol & West and what a way to start. Sheila Wilcox ran a new 5k PB by 40 seconds with a time of 24. 48. Well done to Rob Colman on a new PB too and Jane Colman only 4 seconds off hers and third finisher in the W45 category. With Sarah Everitt back to form with a sub-20m clocking first W45 and Rosey Mushens posting another PB as fourth F45 it looks like a fight for places in the W45 Master’s relay team.
