Club Life Member Off to Compete for New Zealand in the Winter Olympics

Bristol & West AC are proud to announce that their former Under-20 GB International and Life Member Katharine EUSTACE has been selected to compete at the Sochi Games in the Women’s Skeleton event for New Zealand.  Since leaving her Bristol home for New Zealand she has taken up the Skeleton event and has been competing at the top level for some years (as regular Eurosport viewers will testify).  Last year Katharine was tenth in the World Cup event and this season was fourth at Lake Placid and last week was eleventh at St Moritz.  Katharine competed for Great Britain Under-20s over 400 metres and her PB of 55.33 was achieved in 1993.  In 1994 she competed in the World Junior Championships in Lisbon and helped the GB 4×400 metre Relay Team to eighth place in the Final.  It was Katharine’s dream to make it to this Olympics and at the age of 37 she will no doubt be the oldest competitor in the event in which anything can happen.  We all wish Katharine the very best for her Olympic debut.
