Little Stoke/Ashton Court parkrun double header – Wednesday 1st January 2014

This was the first occasion that it was possible to run the two Bristol parkruns on the same day. Little Stoke started at 9.00am and Ashton Court commenced at 10.30am. The conditions were rather damp and breezy, certainly the worst conditions experienced in 2014.

Despite this, there were 143 runners at Little Stoke and 152 at Ashton Court. Twenty Bristol & West runners competed at Little Stoke and twenty-two turned out at Ashton Court. A commendable fourteen did the double. (Highlighted below in bold type) and were supported at both by Chris Elson and Keith Brackstone who started 2014 as they had finished 2013 – supporting Whitehall and Club runners (and anyone else they know from the local running scene) at parkruns.

There were only three PBs, all by Ashton Court regulars on an occasional visit to Little Stoke. The three were by Abbie Salter, Rebecca Colquhoun and Vanessa Redmond. Of the three, only Vanessa did the double and this was enough to earn her the Performance of the Day accolade.

Jarlath McKenna, Mark Burley and Maggie Salter were successful in achieving two Age Grade successes on the same day. Jarlath had a particularly good day, coming second and third at Little Stoke and Ashton Court respectively.

Congratulations to Jacob Butterly who completed his 99th and 100th parkruns to join the select band in the Hundred Club.

Finally Colin Traer completed the double at Eastleigh and Southampton parkruns.
