Well done to all six lads who arrived in time to pick up county numbers and meet up with Jasper who was racing for the first time in our improving team.
I knew it would be a competitive race between the Bristol lads and so it was.
Jasper had a real flyer and there is clearly more to come. He ran bravely from the start to lead the team in.
Stan ran hard to close in on Jasper and was so excited at how well he was running he promptly removed his club vest running in towards the finish. This took a bit of sorting out as his number did not get recorded. I have now sorted it and next time I will glue his number to his chest!
Nathan gave Stan a real run for his money at the start but could not keep ahead in the later stages of the race. However I feel this was his best race to date and he clearly ran himself in to the ground.
This course is clearly not for Dan. Last year he had a nasty fall and again this year he had a disappointing run. I am sure Dan will give his all at the South-West cross-country on Sunday 5th January 2014 at Killerton Park, Exeter when he will be a valued member of the team.
Well Done to Dylan who was not feeling a 100% but still turned up and had a go. Full marks to him for reliability.
Robert is continuing to look better in each race and finished very strongly. He is still in the same age group next year so has plenty of time to improve. Individual finishing positions are as follows:
Jasper Eddison 21
Stan Harding-Hill 24
Nathan Merchant 28
Daniel Marshall 61
Dylan Quibell 71
Robert Kiekuth 76
The under-11 boy’s race was very exciting with Otto Kingston competing for the first time alongside Caleb who was racing in his third cross-country. Both lads are clearly very able and with a little more race experience will be a force to contend with. They will be a welcome addition to under-13 team next year. With two more waiting in the wings we hope to have a scoring team for the last two matches.
Otto Kingston 10
Caleb Owen 20
