Gwent League – Bridgend 10 November 2013 – Under-13 Boy’s Report

The course was very different in terms of terrain from the previous race at Pontypool. Hence I was not surprised to see a different finishing order which proves horses for courses. Stan Harding Hill ran strongly from the start and as in previous races held on well throughout to lead the team home. Nathan Merchant and Daniel Marshall had a great battle and coming in to the finish Dan used his track speed to nip past Nathan in the last 50 metres. Dan was my hero for the day. He did exactly what I asked of him prior to the race and it paid off. This was his best race so far.

I knew it would be close between Harry Feehily and Dylan Quibell and I felt that the flatter faster course would suit Harry and this proved to be the case. Both lads are improving at every race.

Barnaby Johns – not put off by his lack off spikes at Pontypool – got the better of Robert Keikuth who tried so hard he was speechless at the end!

Overall it was a great team effort although the finishing positions are down on the previous race there appears to have been a lot more boys at the start so the results will be very interesting to analyze.

Caleb Owen in his second novice race once again ran very strongly through the field finishing a great 16th and with a bit more race experience should see a top 10 place soon.
