Ashton Court and other parkruns – Saturday 9th November 2013

It was a chilly and very wet morning on Saturday. This inevitably led to lower attendances with Ashton Court down sixty-three with an attendance of 223. There were twenty-three runners from Bristol & West.

It was good to see Pete Mountain back in action after his tour of the UK which included other parkruns over the last few weeks.

There were two PBs this week, which were achieved by the club’s two youngest runners. James Pyke, on his second outing at Ashton Court had a ten second improvement on last week. Otto Kingston has been threatening a PB for a number of weeks. This week he got it all together and maintained his concentration and pace throughout; knocking an impressive 16 seconds off his previous best, which was set in June this year. This earns Otto the Performance of the Week.

The club had its usual quota of Age Grade first finishers with Pete Mountain, Stuart O’Connell, Marie Berryman, Tracy Allan, Susan Campbell and Lizzi Elton- Walters all being successful this week.

At Little Stoke, there were ten club runners with Will Russell finishing second and with 8 runners from the WISE group there we had 18 runners with a connection to the club.

On the tourist trail, Phil Parry visited Longrun Meadow at Taunton and was first finisher and it was great to see Sian back in ‘racing’ action (although she would probably say she was just jogging)..

Finally congratulations are due to Karen Watson who completed her fiftieth parkrun at Ashton Court and to Mark Burley who achieved the same land mark at Little Stoke.
