Ashton Court parkrun 2nd November 2013
There were big attendances at the parkruns in the Bristol area with 286 running at Ashton Court and a record 240 at Little Stoke. Little Stoke was celebrating its first anniversary on Saturday. Bristol & West had twenty-six representatives at Ashton Court and eight at Little Stoke.
There was just the one PB at Ashton Court, with Jennifer Owsley improving her time by 3 seconds. This earns her the Performance of the Week. Very close, in fact equalling his previous best, was Paul Burgess, despite having a late night and minimal rest. Once again the advice is to start nearer the front.
Bristol & West had its usual successes at the various Age Grades. Particular mention must be made of James Pyke, on debut, and Ashton Court regular Otto Kingston who were first and second respectively in the JM14 class. Stuart O’Connell continued his good form and was first in the JM15-19 group.
Paul Jefferson, Marie Berryman, Maggie Salter and Emma Withers were also top of their Age Grades.
At Little Stoke, presentations were made to the various Points Table winners from their first year. Congratulations go to Rebecca Doye who was the female winner, and so continuing the female successes at Ashton Court. At Little Stoke it is now start all over again for the new parkrun year.
At Ashton Court, with just over half the current year now completed, Tom Watkins leads the male table and Emma Withers, Alison Engledew and Marie Berryman are respectively second, third and fourth in the female table.
There were three first finishers for the club this week. Phil Parry and Helen Newberry took the honours at Little Stoke. Huw Jones was first at Princes in Liverpool. Meanwhile Matthew Krelle is having a spot of warm weather training in South Africa and was second finisher at the Shongweni parkrun near Durban. It’s back to reality next week for Matthew, when he competes in the Gwent League at the less exotic surroundings ofBridgend.
