Aston Court parkrun – Saturday 19th October 2013

It was back to normal on the “A” course, puddles and all on Saturday at Ashton Court. The overall attendance was back up over two hundred with a total of 235 runners of which nineteen represented Bristol &West. Several regulars were missing from the parkrun as they were representing the club in the Gwent Cross country League at Pontypool later in the day.

The parkrunners definitely had the better weather, as those who made the journey to Wales will testify, with it being mild,  and dry with no wind. The puddles are now firmly established on the plateau, and so are likely to remain until the spring.

Once again, no PBs were recorded by club runners. Vanessa Redmond and Lizzi Elton-Walters came close. So the Performance of the Week went to Ashton Court regular David Engledew who recorded the club’s best age grade this week with 74.07%. Dave has not recorded a PB for over two years, but appears to be back to form. It should be noted that Dave often acts as pacer for slower runners, so this award is well deserved.

There was also an absence of PBs at Little Stoke, but the club’s runners more than held their own in the various age categories. This left Rich Kennington as the only club runner with a PB on his fourth visit to scenic Sewerby in Yorkshire. Pete Mountain was also on the tourist trail running at Braunstone in Leicester.
