Ashton Court parkrun – Saturday 24th August 2013

There was a reduction in numbers at Ashton Court this week with 219 taking part with twenty-six runners representing Bristol & West.

Conditions were ideal, on a cool overcast morning, with a north-westerly wind having minimal effect on runners. After the events of last week this week’s parkrun was probably a lower key affair. However, the ubiquitous Yorkshire based mutt made an appearance, this time as runner.

Five PBs were recorded by Bristol & West runners. Timothy Jones improved his time on his second appearance. Gordon Everett had his fifth successive appearance and his sixth out of eight runs. Kate Gould showed that four recent runs at Little Stoke had been beneficial by improving her time by fifty-five seconds. After last week’s PB, Vanessa Redmond repeated the feat; this time by an impressive thirty-three seconds.  The Performance of the Week is awarded to Andy Malloy who was fourth overall and showed a twenty-eight second improvement.

Yvonne Guy, Nicola Dutton and Denise Williams were all prominent at the rear of the field encouraging and cajoling future talent.

At Little Stoke, Tom Morris made it a first finish for Bristol and West for the second successive week.

If you are wondering why there is no report of Emma Bowers in the Curl Curl parkrun it’s because she was running a 13k run called the Pub2Pub in the North of Sydney – sounds like a pretty sociable event! Emma was fourteenth female and fifth in her age category.
