Oli Mott and Phil Wylie make Top 15 in World Duathlon Championships

Oli Mott and Phil Wylie competed in the duathlon at the World Games which doubled up as the ITU Elite World Duathlon Championships on Saturday 27th July 2013 in Cali, Colombia. The guys report an amazing atmosphere: The World Games is barely known about in the UK but it’s the Olympics for non-Olympic sports really, with 30 sports over a 2 week period. The Colombians certainly enjoyed themselves!

The race was a standard distance 10k/40k/5k draft-legal race on a flat course. Phil Wylie managed a decent 8th in the men (he had hoped for better given a recent 2nd place in a French Grand Prix duathlon), Oli was 13th. Oli had hoped for a top 10 finish and might have got it if the tactical race had panned out slightly differently but he was satisfied with his result and heads off to do more of the same before they return to hopefully run for the club in the Midland and National six-stage relays.
