Pomphrey Sports 5k – Tuesday 29th July 2013 – Results

The final 5k of the Pomphrey Sports 5k Summer Series was held on Tuesday 29th July 2013. It was a high standard race particularly in the ladies section, where Jenny Jagger (17:39) fought off a stern challenge from Westbury Harriers’ Emma D’Alton (17:41), who was followed home by Helen Sharpe. Sarah Everitt had another astounding run and she was followed by new member Helen Newberry, hampered by some nasty looking wounds on her knees after a recent biking accident, and Clare Jolliffe. There were lots of PBs with Jon and Haley Bennett, Andy Wright, Helen Cooper, Rosey Mushens, Marie Lakin and Vanessa Redmond all recording them. Up front in the Men’s Race the Stroud and District duo of Joe Dalgleish and Brett Halliwell battled it out with the former winning by two seconds 15:52 to 15:54. Among the club’s men Torran Elson (16:37) and Tom Morris (16:42) fought it out for third and fourth place. It was good to see Iain Stuart back racing in sixth place, with newcomer Jarlath McKenna in seventh. Peter Mountain had another good run to win the M55 race. There were 93 finishers and full results can be found at:
