Several club members were competing in the Loughborough International Match on Sunday 19 May 2013. Pride of place performance wise must go to Lucy BRYAN who raised her PB in the Pole Vault to 4 metres 35 centimetres to record a great win and take the scalps of Sally Peake and Katie Byres. This performance equals Holly Bleasdale’s under-20 performance and has only been bettered by Katie Byers’ clearance at 4 metres 52 centimetres, which is the current UK under-20 record.
On the track it was our sprinters who were in action. Emily DIAMOND was in action in the International 200 metres finishing second in 23.30 into a slight head-wind. The race was won by Dina Asher-Smith in 23.14.
Scott BAJERE won the ‘B’ 100 metres in 10.64 with Greg SMITH clocking 10.87 for fifth place in the same race. Chris STONE finished third in the ‘B’ 200 metres clocking 21.51 – just edging out Omar SIMPSON who clocked 21.56 for fourth place in the same race. It would be great to see these athletes reproduce this level of performance for the club in some of the up-coming BAL and UK Women’s League matches.
