The club sent a team to the BUPA UK 10k Road Race Championships although non-availabilities and withdrawals meant that the teams were not as strong as we would have liked.
Nevertheless the Men’s Team performed well with Oli Mott finishing twelfth in a new PB of 30:52 with Owain Jones close behind in 19th place in 30:58 just outside his PB. The scoring was on accumulate time for three runners and our third finisher was Shaun Antell who was 45th in 32:19. Also competing was Matt Deacon who finished 296th in 36:57.
On the ladies team it was great to see Claire Hallissey back in England – albeit briefly – and although not in her best form she still led the team home in fifth place in the ladies race in 34:12 (125th in the race). Annabel Granger was next home in 37:33 with Julia Belyavin our third scorer in 39:29. Annabel Gummow was returning after injury and did not finish.
Team results haven’t been publicised yet but unofficially Tipton look like the Men’s team winners with an accumulated time of 92:08; our time of 94:09 looks like it could be good enough for second place.
