The Second Avon League Match took place at Yate Outdoor Sports Centre on Sunday 20th May 2013. There were a number of good performances from club athletes and overall the club produced 18 individual or team winners.
The under-11 girl’s 4 x 50 metre relay team of Anais TAYLOR, Xea AXTON, Sadie GLEDSON and Emily TIPPING won in 32.5. Charlotte ROBERTS took the under-13 girl’s 100 metres in 14.2. Tia JACKSON won the under-13 girl’s long jump with a jump of 3 metres 92 centimetres.
In the under-15 girl’s age group Catherine CLAYTON won the discus with a throw of 22 metres and 93 centimetres and Samantha BARRETT won the long jump with a distance of 4 metres and 46 centimetres.
At under-17 Anicia SKEATES had a busy day taking first equal in the 100 metres in 12.8, the 200 metres in 24.6 and the long jump with a jump of 4 metres and 76 centimetres. Yemma SONGU shared the spoils in the 100 metres clocking 12.8 and the two combined with Shanique PIERRE and Elena EVANS to take the 4 x 100 metre relay in 52.8.
In the Senior Ladies’ age group under-20 Alyssa SMALL did the 100/200 metres double in 13.0 and 27.3.
On the men’s side under-11 Alex Yfimcev scored a double winning the ball throw with 38 metres and 83 centimetres and then took the high jump with a clearance at 1 metre 20 centimetres. He also finished second in the 75 metres in 11.5.
Freddie OWSLEY followed up his fast 400 metres on Saturday (guesting in the Midland League) with a quick 200 metres as he took the men’s under-17 race in 22.7.
Phil PARRY took the senior men’s 3,000 metres in 9:18.7 (despite being a vet 50); Jerry HOGAN was the actual winner of the vet’s 3,000 metres in 10:25.2.
Matt SPICER took the Men’s hammer with a throw of 50 metres and 30 centimetres.
