Viv McConnell, Clare Jolliffe and Sarah Everitt travelled to Sutton Park to compete in the British Masters Road Relay Championships on Saturday 18th May 2013 in the Female 45 category as the sole team from the club. Stalwart Clare Stevinson was also there as a lone representative in the Female 35 category (a real disappointment as the club has the talent to have won this category). Viv set off on the first leg and brought the ladies home in sixth place overall and second in her category clocking 18.23 – a time which was to secure her an individual bronze as the third fastest F45 athlete. Next up was Clare Jolliffe who, despite dropping to seventh in the race, actually took the ladies into Gold Medal position in the F45 category as she ran 19.38. On the anchor leg Sarah Everitt lifted the ladies to fourth place overall but couldn’t halt Lucy Elliott of Winchester who not only took her team Winchester to gold in the F45 race but also headed all the F35 teams as well. Sarah’s time was 19.06 – Lucy ran 17:25 to take the F45 individual fastest lap.
The F45 result was 1st Winchester & District AC 55:34, 2nd Bristol & West AC 57:07 and 3rd Coventry Godiva 59:23. Full results can be found at: http://www.joelee.co.uk/2013/vets13race1.pdf
Well done all of you – you are an inspiration to everyone in the club’s endurance community.
