As last week, the sun was out, but the wind, still coming from the north-east, was merely a breeze, so conditions could be described as pleasant for probably the first time this year
Out of a total of 215 runners, Bristol &West AC contributed twenty-six. That means that a total of 1,986 runs have been completed by the club’s runners, so only fourteen to go to the 2,000 mark, which will almost certainly be reached next week.
Once again Adam Kula-Przezwanski led home our runners, this time coming third overall, with Simon Smith and Andrew Malloy joining him in the top ten.
In the Age Grade rankings, Tracy Allan had the top grading, of 78.67%. Alison Engledew and Pete Mountain were over 75% and Sarah Everitt, Gary Jennings and Carron Downer were also in the first ten.
There were a total of five PBs recorded by club members this week. Barry Mills got his sixth in succession out of a total of seven runs. This is certainly unprecedented among Bristol and West members. Jennifer Owsley and Rebecca Courtenay also improved their times. Performance of the Week was a close run thing between Andrew Malloy and Emma Withers. Both are Ashton Court veterans, but Emma gets the casting vote having achieved her first PB since July 2012 and in her seventy-first run at Ashton Court. Emma was also unlucky two weeks ago when she equalled her previous best. Andrew’s PB was his eleventh in thirty-one appearances.
In the Women’s points completion, Alison Engledew, clawed back three points this week, so Emma Withers now has a lead of fifteen points with two weeks remaining. It will definitely go to the final week.
Congratulations are due to Martin Riddiford who earned his red tee-shirt on Saturday having completed fifty runs. Congratulations, and apologies for last week’s omission in this report, to Lizzi Elton-Walters, who ran her fiftieth run at Medina Parkrun on the Isle of Wight. Will Russell flew the Club flag at the Little Stoke Parkrun finishing second in 16:47.
