For once, the sun was shining, but it was still only just above freezing, when the Ashton Court parkrun set off at 9:00am on Saturday. There were 28 runners from Bristol & West out of a total field of 199.
Once again the biting north easterly wind was in evidence and this undoubtedly had an effect on individual performances. None of the Ashton Court veterans achieved a PB. Just three were recorded by Adam Kula-Przezwanski, Alexander Whittaker and Daniel Course all of whom have completed less than ten Ashton Court Parkruns. Adam wins the Performance of the Week title having achieved the double of 1st overall and a PB.
The top two Age Grade performances in the field were recorded by Tracy Allan and Alison Engledew with 78.55% and 77.57% respectively.
The contest for the female points table gets ever more interesting with Alison Engledew gaining nine points on Emma Withers to reduce the gap to eighteen points with just three weeks remaining. Both Alison and Emma, obviously taking this contest seriously, “employed” pacers this week. Alison had Sarah Everitt to assist and Emma went one better by utilising the services of son Otto for the first half, then Alan Wilcox of the Hogweed Trotters for the downhill stretch.
In Chris Elson’s absence this week, Keith Brackstone was on hand at the top of the hill to offer encouragement to all.
