Mansfield Harriers has been evicted from Berry Hill Park, the home it has used since 1958. The background to this is quite complex but essentially the club has been in dispute with the Trustees of Berry Hill Park since April 2010 over track usage arrangements.
There is now a real danger that the club may now fold.
Mansfield is only a small town in terms of population but punches well above its weight in athletics terms. The senior men’s team competes in British League Division 4 and since 2000 the club has produced 2 Olympians, 5 GB internationals, 3 England internationals, 2 Scottish internationals and 26 athletes who have won medals by finishing in the top 3 at a national event at AAA age group or English schools level.
The club has also worked with the ECCA to organise the National X/C Relays for over 25 years. It is quite likely that members from your club may have competed at Berry Hill Park in the past.
Please support the club by writing to Jeff Wood, Chairman, Trustees of Berry Hill Social Welfare Centre, Mines Offices, Berry Hill Lane, Mansfield NG18 4JU requesting that the decision to exclude Mansfield Harriers from Berry Hill Park be reversed.
