Hilary Nash and Simonne Lowery must be congratulated on their hard work not just through the year as key players in supportiung Young Athletes Competitions but on staging an excellent Young Athletes Awards Presentation Evening at the Rose Green Community Centre on Saturday 6th October 2012. In all there were 10 prize winners with awards going to the best male and female athletes in the under-11, under-13, under-15 and under-17 categories plus the most promising male and female newcomers.
First up to receive their awards were the under-11s with Tia Jackson taking the girls’ award and Oliver Hulbert the boys’. Both athletes had an excellent season performing well in the sprints and jumps. In the under-13 category Kurt Cameron and Hannah Dyer took the awards: both had an excellent summer in 2012 and are developing into multi-talented athletes capable of performing to very high standards in a variety of events.
Tomas Goodman and Samantha Barrett were the under-15 winners and again both are developing into versatile athletes although Tomas remains an outstanding sprint specialist he will attempt other events especially in support of the team. In the under-17 age group it was sprinters to the fore as Yemma Songu and Jack Dyer took their age group awards – again both had a very successful summer in 2012.
The newcomer awards went to under-17 Lucas Regazzo and under-13 Isabella Parselle.
