National Road Relays – The Latest Update – Bristol & West will be there

Since the original cancellation of the road relays ERRA are delighted to have received several offers of help. Of all the offers they had, [including Sandringham and Chatsworth], by far the most accessible, practical and agreeable for fast road-running, is the magnificent Clumber Park in Notts. Set in over 4,000 acres, it is truly a road runner’s paradise. Thus they will be staging the Senior Men’s 6 stage and Senior Women’s 4 stage at Clumber on 13th October 2012. Women’s race 1.30pm, Men’s race 2.30pm. The Young Athletes’ Road Relays will be staged on the 14th April 2013 at Sutton Park; so they will get two competitions next year.

ENTRIES will be handled on line by the Sports Soft website

Closing date will be 10th October 2012.

QUALIFIERS As is tradition, the women’s race is open to all affiliated clubs. The men’s race is by qualification through their area championship (the first 25 teams). As the Midland championship did not take place, the first 25 teams in either 2009, 2010 or 2011 will be accepted.

VENUE & TRAVEL The Clumber Park website gives directions for travel at

The Park is some 20 minutes off Junction 30 of the M1. It is 4.5 miles from Worksop. There is a 1:21 train service from London King’s Cross to Retford or a longer service to Worksop. Minicabs from Retford cost around £7; it would be dvisable to book one before arrival.

PARKING This is gratis, very close to the start.

COURSE and PHOTOS. ERRA will be publishing course maps and photos very soon. The women shall run a 2km loop twice, and the men a 3km loop twice, thus making the race extremely spectator friendly. There are some light undulations, but generally the going is flat and fast. ERRA will also hand out course maps on the day.

OFFICIALS. Many of the officials who indicated their availability may not now be available and others may now be available. If you are available to officiate please contact Ted Butcher 01778 345062
