Ashton Court Parkrun – Saturday 29th September 2012

Numbers were well down for this week’s parkrun with only 122 runners. It’s been over 200 in recent weeks. Bristol and West had only 11 taking part; well under half the normal number. The reason, of course, was the pending Bristol Half Marathon the following day, with many regulars having a day off in preparation.

Bristol and West did however supply 7 out of the 14 volunteers this week.

Not wishing to have to omit this column’s favourite topic, it should be recorded that all the dogs must have had a lie in and a late breakfast. The only dog spotted on the course today was an interested spectator accompanying Alex’s mother.

On occasions such as this with reduced numbers, PBs are often thin on the ground and today was no exception. Fortunately the Arthur family stepped in, and Denica smashed her previous best by 57 seconds, with father Noel, supplying encouragement all the way. Denica therefore wins this week’s Performance of the Week.

Bristol and West still managed to influence the overall positions with Richard Lowe being second overall and Diana Kennedy finishing as second lady.
