Due to the cancellation of the Ashton Court Parkrun because of the BrisFest being held in the park, it is proposed to have a trip to the Forest of Dean Parkrun on Saturday 22nd September 2012. All are welcome to come along. Just bring along your barcode as normal.
The plan is to meet at the Water Tower on the Downs (junction of Stoke Road/Ladies Mile) at 07.15 a.m. on the day; leaving spare cars parked on the Downs (it’s free of charge to leave them there). We will then drive up to Cribbs Causeway and pick up the motorway there.
For those who wish to make their own arrangements and travel independently, details of the location can be found at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/forest-of-dean/course. The postcode is GL16 7JT.
Don’t forget to go via the old Severn Bridge, so don’t go on the M49 from Avonmouth. You will need to pick up the M4 at Almondsbury and follow signs for the M48 which will take you to the old bridge. Instructions on the Forest of Dean website are as follows:
From the Chepstow/Old Severn Bridge takes the A48 to Lydney. Turn left onto the B4234 to Parkend and keep following the B4234 until you come to Myriestock Cross Roads where the A4136 crosses. Turn left and follow the A4136 to the Royal Forest of Dean College and Lakers School.
Google Maps recommends a more direct route: From the old Severn Bridge / Chepstow take the A48. After 2 miles, turn left onto the B4228 (Gloucester Road) and keep following the B4228 until you come to Coleford. Turn right onto the B4028 (Gloucester Road) and left onto the B4432 (Woodgate Road). Turn right onto the A4136 and the Royal Forest of Dean College / Lakers School is on the left after about 200 metres.
Sixteen Bristol and West parkrunners went to Southwick parkrun on the last trip, so let’s see if we can beat that.
Please don’t forget that the Midland Road Relays are on the same day and the club will be looking for the faster parkrunners to compete for Bristol & West in the Road Relays in Sutton Park.
