UKA Officials Courses

Bristol & West Athletic Club needs more qualified Field Officials and in the immediate future it looks unlikely that Avon Athletic Association will be able to stage any courses in the County (at least until there is a UK Athletics trained Health & Safety Tutor).

Prospective Level 2 Field Officials who would rather not wait for the situation to be sorted out should sign up for the course at Kings College Taunton on Sunday 14th October 2012 (10.00 – 16.00). Bookings need to be made through the EA website: more details are available at:

Those club members who already qualified as Level 2 Field Officials who have not been through a Health and Safety course recently (I think this means within the last 3 years) are required to go through one by April 2013. The first 1.5 hours of the Taunton course above will supply such officials with the necessary Brownie Points: more details can be found at

For those looking for qualification as an Endurance Official, the only course on offer at present involves a bit of travel along the M4: to St. Mary’s University College, Twickenham, on Saturday 6th October 2012. More details are available at:
