Only five male athletes broke 17 minutes at the final Pomphrey Sports (Bridge Inn) 5k on Tuesday 31st July 2012. The winner was James Rodgers from Clevedon Athletic Club in 16 minutes 16 seconds with Tom Morris from Bristol & West Athletic Club runner-up in 16 minutes 32 seconds. The Bristol athlete was one of four Bristol & West athletes in the top 7 places. Cameron Coetzee – now apparently running unattached – finished third (and first under-17) in third place as he recorded 16.46.
The first lady was Lizzie Smith of Westbury Harriers in 19.19 who was almost a minute clear of Julia Belyavin from Bristol & West who clocked 20.05. With 119 finishers race numbers were slightly down on recent fields.

The overall series winner in the Senior Men’s category scoring accumulated times from 3 races was Bristol & West Athletic Club’s Steve Francis who has become something of a course specialist over the past few years. Chris Palmer and Karl Dunn, both of Westbury Harriers, were first and second senior men scoring all four races.
The first lady overall scoring 3 races was Lizzie Smith of Westbury Harriers and Lizzie also prevailed scoring 4 races (where she was fifth overall – a fitting result as she is coached by Race Director Chris Elson.
