Ashton Court Parkrun – Saturday 4th August 2012

Lineker, Hansen and Co reported on the recent European Championships in Ukraine and Poland from the comfort of a studio in Manchester, so I do feel qualified to report on the Ashton Court Parkrun, not having been present on the day. I acknowledge that they had a lot more technology at the BBC, TV pictures for a start, but I should have the photographs on the web site, to have a look at.

Carrying on with the Olympic theme, there is tennis on one side and trampolining on the other; as I await the Ashton Court results on t’internet. Great for keeping the neck muscles in trim; tennis for working them in a horizontal plane and trampolining in a vertical.

Anyway, the Aston Court results have finally made it to the East Riding and I have counted 13 runners and two PBs. After consultation with the rest of the voting panel, the winner of this week’s Performance of the Week is Bev Campbell, having achieved four PBs out of her last four Parkruns. Congratulations to Bev.

An interesting statistic spotted by Colin Traer, is that Bristol and West have now run over 1,000 Parkruns at Ashton Court, with Paul Burgess completing the 1,000th run.

Five others were on the tourist trail. Thanks to those who emailed me with their results.

Next week (11th August 2012) Ashton Court is cancelled, so there will be a trip to Southwick Parkrun, Trowbridge; meeting by the water tower on the Downs at 7.20am in order to leave at 7.30am.

As ever the weekly Parkrun report was submitted by Roger Brocklesby who is far too modest to mention that he ran a PB by 36 seconds at Sewerby (Roger does that mean it was run by a sewer?).
